For the second year in a row, the Aurora Borealis provided my Photo of the Year. This image was taken Nov. 11, and was by far the brightest I have ever seen the aurora. It looks like green smoke arising from Red Lodge Mountain.

Runners-up

I really wanted to pick feeding at the hummingbird nest (August), but the front bird in the image isn't in focus. Other contenders were a moose calf on trail camera (June) and an attempt to repeat an image I took 20 years ago at Glendalough, Ireland (May).
