We get a moose about once a year in our yard on the outskirts of Red Lodge, Montana, and I get moose frequently on my trail cameras in the National Forest south of town. I've gotten some good DSLR moose images from Yellowstone and Grand Teton, but today was the best I've gotten here in the yard.
We've been out of town for a few weeks so I checked the back yard trail cameras to see if the moose was on either of them. Browning #11 had dead batteries, but ancient Melted Browning #6 got a moose on Oct. 21 that looks similar to today's moose.
Whenever I get a good image, I check to see if it a Photo of the Day candidate. My Nov. 1 POD happens to be another moose image, captured in the snow in 2017 near my brother's former cabin near Luther, MT. This was one of my first moose images on a trailcam so I'll keep it as POD for this date.
Moose in yard today.
Recent trailcam image, Oct. 21.
From 2017, Photo of the Day for Nov. 1.
